Sales Test
Different sales approaches demand different sales personnel. When using a sales test to select sales personnel, you first must know what you are looking for in a successful candidate. Does your approach require a short sales cycle with high commissions? Then you may need a "Hunter". Does your sales approach demand a long sales cycle and you pay a higher base pay plus a fair commission? Then you may need a "Sales Consultant" with a strong relationship building personality. Or does your sales approach require more technical knowledge with a lot of service support and add on sales? Then you may need a "Farmer".
It is easy to label a sales candidate by names such as Hunter, Farmer, etc., but how do you measure it and know that you are measuring all the areas that are a necessity for success? And how do you determine which attributes are critical to success and which ones can be developed. A good sales test program can help you define your specific needs by either measuring your top performers or by objectively analyzing the position requirements in more than one area. It should look at more than extroverts versus introverts and cover a broad range of areas such as: skills, talents, attitude, personality and motivators. The sales test will then accurately compare the required attributes "apples to apples" to the sales candidate.
